Event Description

Winter Reading Project flyer

The English Department Undergraduate Advisory Board warmly invites you to participate in our annual Winter Reading Project.

This year we are reading Percival Everett’s award-winning novel Erasure, the basis for the 2023 film American Fiction (dir. Cord Jefferson). Addressing questions of race, the fiction market, and film adaptation with irreverent humor and stinging insight, Erasure is a novel for our times. When the film was released, an NPR story described the novel this way: “Scathing, funny, and prescient, 20 years after its initial release Erasure remains one of the American literary giant’s most striking and beloved works.”

Join a panel discussion focused on Erasure, by Percival Everett, featuring faculty from the departments of English and Cinema and Media Studies. Learn more here.

DINNER WILL BE PROVIDED—please arrive early to grab pizza, salad, and a good seat!
