Preceptorials

New Student Orientation & Academic Initiatives, Preceptorials

Preceptorials are not-for-credit educational sessions designed to highlight the University’s intellectual richness, foster a sense of belonging within our shared community, and help students shape their Penn experience.

These sessions focus on the following key areas: Academic Life, America 250, Civic Engagement, Community Building, Cultural Awareness, and Wellness.

Preceptorials typically run 45 to 90 minutes and may be offered multiple times during the available time blocks. While small-group interaction is encouraged, larger sessions can also be accommodated. NSO Preceptorials will take place on Saturday, August 22, from 10am to 2pm.

Preceptorial hosts are encouraged to reserve a room prior to submitting an application. If you’re unable to do so, our team can assist with room reservations. All Preceptorials will be promoted through the NSOAI website, social media, and the Daily Digest emails during NSO.

Preceptorials may be hosted by Penn faculty, staff, or registered Penn student organizations.

  • For faculty and teaching staff, Preceptorials can be an opportunity to share passions related to their teaching and research interests.
  • For undergraduate students, Preceptorials can be a way to learn about specific areas of interest and an opportunity to connect with peers.

Please email provost-nso-ai@pobox.upenn.edu for questions about the program.
