After moving in, the students will be able to stay at their residence on campus.

During New Student Orientation (NSO), Penn has a series of non-mandatory events for Penn parents and families. These programs are offered concurrently to move-in activities and allow families to adjust to campus at their own pace.

Here are some optional events for Penn parents & families to attend. Please note that this year’s NSO programming is still under development and will be finalized in the coming weeks.

Here’s the temporary schedule; just a reminder that the schedule is subject to change:

  • Monday, August 18, Tuesday, August 19 and Wednesday, August 20: NSO Hospitality Booths
  • Tuesday, August 19 and Wednesday, August 20: New Student Resources Fair & Campus Express; Penn Parents Info Station

  • Wednesday, August 20: President and Provost’s First-Year Family Welcome

Any NSO programming after Wednesday, August 20 is for first-year undergraduate students only, including Convocation.

Thrive at Penn (TAP) is a mandatory online program on Canvas that assists undergraduate first-year students with their Penn experience.

TAP prepares undergraduate first-year students to make healthy choices during their university experience and provides information about resources available to support student success. Topics covered include thriving at a research university; wellness and health; the risks associated with alcohol and other drugs; healthy relationships and sexual violence prevention; safe living on campus; and resources specific to the students’ needs during their four years at Penn.

This TAP public site will be available to Penn parents and families. It will include all of the information given in the TAP modules for current undergraduates: videos, resources, images of quizzes, links, and documents.

TAP for Penn parents and families will be available on August 1; please stay tuned.
